Cost

The Mythbusters had an extremely high budget for each and every episode they made. Each episode averaged around $250,000 dollars to make. The cost usually varied from $100,000 to $350,000 per episode. That is a lot for a reality science show. Especially since they don't use much special effects and animation. Most of the cost comes from the materials. The price for materials for each episode usually ranges from $5000 to $10,000. On really special myths they can spend up to $100,000 on just materials. These myths include ones involving many cars or lots of explosives.

During its run mythbusters has had its fair shair of problems, especially financially. In the first few seasons they didn't have a high budget, so they did much smaller myths and and eventually when they became popular enough they started doing the much bigger more expensive myth. Another financial issue was at the end of 2014 when mythbusters announced that the build team (Kari, Grant and Tori) will be leaving mythbusters. At first it was thought that there were budget cuts in the show and they had to let some people go, but apparently they left because of issues with negotiating their salary in the show.
